All students who have completed a minimum of 3 years military service since their eighteenth birthday in the British Armed Forces may apply.
The amount payable is £500 per academic year. The award is payable in arrears, at the end of each academic year. Awards for the 2026/27 academic year will be paid in July 2027. Students on long courses may receive the award later than July 2027.
To receive the award, you must have successfully completed your studies during the year on first attempt.
To apply please complete the application form on www.blackbullion.com and ensure you upload a copy of your discharge or military retirement papers.
Applications will be accepted throughout the academic year until the deadline of 30 May 2027. Successful applicants will be contacted within 20 working days of submitting an application.
If you are in receipt of the Military Service Award you may still be eligible to receive any other awards offered by the university, providing you fulfil the appropriate criteria for these.
