Five teams from across the University took up a Bolton Hospice fundraising challenge this summer, raising an incredible £6,696 for the local charity.

The Hospice’s £50 Challenge, which ran from 1 May to 31 July, saw businesses and organisations working creatively to turn their £50 investment into the biggest amount they could.

The University teams collectively raised £6,696 – making the University the second-highest fundraising business in this year’s challenge.

The teams that took part were:

  • Marketing, Recruitment & Admissions
  • Human Resources
  • Sports Centre
  • Quality Transformation Unit (QTU)
  • Foundation Programmes

Colleagues came up with an impressive range of creative and adventurous fundraising activities.

These included skydives, a car wash, a colour run, multiple raffles and tombolas, a gala ball and a virtual Kilimanjaro climb, as well as many other events and activities.

Each team was presented with a certificate and award for their efforts. The University also received the ‘Most Adventures’ award, which recognised the adventurous spirit shown by colleagues.

The fundraising achievement is particularly impressive as the challenge took place during the quieter summer period and the Graduation ceremonies.

In total, this year’s Bolton Hospice £50 Challenge raised more than £30,000 to support the charity’s vital work.

A huge congratulations and thank you to everyone who took part, organised an event, bought a ticket, donated, volunteered or helped to spread the word.

The £6,696 raised by the University teams, supported by colleagues, is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when we all come together for a great local cause.
