Two academics from the University of Greater Manchester have had their research abstracts accepted for presentation at the prestigious International Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISPAH) World Congress 2026, to be held in Mexico later this year.
The research abstracts are:
From Global Policy to Local Gown and Town: Active Campus Ecologies for Health Equity, grounded in Craig Hobbs’ PhD and scholarly research into Active Campus Ecologies. The research was carried out in collaboration with British Universities and Colleges Sport, Scottish Students Sport, International University Sport Federations and UK Government Departments for Education; Digital Culture, Media and Sport.
Appreciating the buzz around the honeycomb: ‘Activating the Nectar’ for Equity and Local Impact, informed by Craig Hobbs and Dr Joey Weber’s Jenkinson Award-winning project and collaboration with Bolton Council public health, Bolton 2040 Vision Partnership, GM Moving and allied education, health and community stakeholders.
This success builds on the momentum of Craig and Joey’s recent TEDx University of Greater Manchester talks, which explored the themes of Active Campus Ecologies (ACE) through the interactive Bee Hive metaphor, and Joey’s published research into the phenomenon of equanimity in mindfulness.
This further reinforces the University’s role as a driver of innovative, real world, impactful research and knowledge exchange, through physical activity, active lifestyles and sport.
It highlights the University’s School of Health, Science and Society’s growing research and knowledge exchange in health equity, active wellbeing, and place-based innovation.
The research abstracts will be presented at the ISPAH World Congress in Merida in October.
