Balancing Work, Family and Study: Renee Tucker Graduates with Distinction and Looks Ahead to a New Chapter

Meet Renee Tucker, who has successfully juggled a full-time career in IST at the University of Greater Manchester, being a mum AND today graduating with a Master’s in software engineering (with distinction)!

Renee, from Bermuda, came to the UK in 2014 to continue her studies. She gained a degree in computing and then worked as a student ambassador and for the last three and a half years in the IST department.

Renee says her two years of study for her Master’s was challenging but that she “learned a lot and it was very rewarding”.

She added: “It was a very hard programme and so I was surprised to get a distinction but also very proud.”

Renee, whose daughter Kaylini has sickle cell disease, a serious blood disorder where the body makes abnormal red blood cells, is moving back to Bermuda in the summer after getting a job there.

She said: “I have really enjoyed my time at the University and will miss my friends and colleagues, but it will be good to see more of my family.”

Congratulations and good luck from all your friends and colleagues at the University of Greater Manchester Renee!
