Last week, we had the incredible privilege of taking 20 students and Paul Tattersall our Historic F1 racer, to Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) in Windlesham for an exclusive look behind the scenes of automotive excellence.
The day began with a surprise appearance by Professor Gordon Murray himself. Hearing him explain the evolution from the iconic Brabham BT46B ‘Fan Car’ to the groundbreaking T.50 was a masterclass in engineering and his life experiences. He simplified complex concepts like boundary layer air flow with the ease as only a true legend like him can.
Under the hospitality of Strategy & Business Director Jean Launberg, we toured the facility, witnessing: Active T.50 servicing and production lines, the initial assembly of the T.33 pilot builds, and Gordon’s stunning private car and bike collection.
The highlight for many was the human element. Seeing that the Chairman’s parking space is ranked behind his customers, and that his daily driver is a 2007 Fiat Panda, speaks volumes about the culture at GMA. Gordon Murray is firmly cemented in our "Greatest of All Time" trio alongside Colin Chapman and Adrian Newey.
Huge thanks to the GMA team for inspiring the next generation of engineers!
