Talented apprentices from independent training provider Alliance Learning put their skills to the test after a special request from the Mayor of Bolton.

The metal fabricator apprentices were asked by Cllr David Chadwick if they could create a steel elephant to be displayed in the Mayor’s Parlour in the town hall.

Apprentices from Pure Fabs, LA Fabrications and Folsana, alongside Alliance Learning’s Fabrication & Welding Lead, Scott Hawtrey, got to work and produced a stunning model elephant.

They then delivered their creation in person to the Mayor and Mayoress in Bolton Town Hall.

Dave Haslam, CEO of Alliance Learning, part of the University of Greater Manchester Group, said: “The mayor had visited Alliance Learning and a short while later he got back in touch to ask if our apprentices could create another elephant for the Mayor’s Parlour.

“Of course, we were happy to oblige and the mayor seemed to be delighted with the apprentices’ creation, which I am sure will be a talking point for anyone who visits the parlour.

“It is a brilliant showcase of teamwork and craftsmanship and perfectly demonstrates how skilled our apprentices are.”
