Scott is a Professor of Teaching and Learning, accomplished educational leader, researcher, external examiner, international keynote speaker, and facilitator with more than 20 years of experience across further and higher education. His expertise spans teaching and learning, sport, initial teacher education, academic development, and the design and delivery of evidence-informed professional development initiatives that support colleagues across institutions and sectors.
Scott has extensive experience in leading diverse academic teams, shaping strategic research agendas, and driving quality enhancement and assurance processes. A sustained record of advancing teaching excellence within complex educational environments through the development of innovative pedagogic practices, the cultivation of vibrant academic communities, and the enhancement of the student experience through data-informed decision-making.
Recognised nationally and internationally for contributions to educational discourse, scholarly leadership, and the advancement of teaching and learning. Professional practice is characterised by visionary leadership, collaborative approaches to team development, and an enduring commitment to educational excellence. Alongside an established academic career, extensive senior leadership experience has been gained through strategic roles in Sport Development, leading initiatives that increased community engagement, widened participation, and enhanced access to sport and physical activity opportunities. This experience is complemented by a distinguished background in public service, including operational military service and leadership responsibilities in physical training and development. Together, these experiences have fostered a strong foundation in leadership, teamwork, resilience, organisational development, and strategic management.
Known for a positive, energetic, and passionate approach to education, with a deep appreciation of the transformative power of teaching, learning, and academic development in creating lasting impact across individuals, institutions, and communities.
Research interests include reflective practice, teacher noticing, and autoethnography.
