Professor Celestine Iwendi from the University of Greater Manchester has been nominated for recognition at the Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN) Black History Month Recognition Evening 2026.
The event, taking place on Saturday 24 October at The Manchester Deansgate Hotel, celebrates individuals for their contribution to Black excellence, community, heritage and achievement.
Celestine is Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Head of the Centre of Intelligence of Things (CIoTh) at the University. With more than 25 years of professional and academic experience, his work spans artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity and the Internet of Things, with applications across areas including medicine and engineering.
His achievements have earned international recognition, including being named among the world’s top 2% of influential scientists by Elsevier.
Alongside his research, Celestine is passionate about education and mentoring the next generation of researchers and technology professionals.
The University congratulates Celestine on his nomination and wishes him every success at the recognition evening.
