Heather graduated with BA (Hons) in Deaf Studies with Health Studies, later achieving MA Social Work in 2005.
Heather worked as a social worker from 2005; working in statutory social work settings within local authorities and the NHS from 2005 until she joined the University of Bolton in June 2022.
As a lecturer on the social work team, Heather currently leads the undergraduate and postgraduate modules relating to law in social work, as well as teaching undergraduate readiness for practice and postgraduate social work with adults, children and families modules.
Heather also has oversight of the skills day programme across the cohorts.
She maintains strong links with social work practice to remain current and maintain networks supportive to the social work programme.
Heather’s experience as social worker related to informal carers and sensory loss; these areas remain her passion and potential areas for future research.
