Greater Access - Your path to Higher Education

What is Greater Access?

As part of our commitment to support accessibility to study a full-time undergraduate course at the University of Greater Manchester (UGM), prospective students who meet the criteria below and attend one of our Open Events will be eligible for a reduced offer—equivalent to one A Level grade lower (8 UCAS points) than our standard entry requirements for full-time UGM undergraduate courses.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a permanent resident in the UK and eligible to pay ‘Home’ tuition fees.
  • Be planning to apply for a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Greater Manchester.
  • Attend one of our official Open Day events.
  • Be taking or already hold Level 3 qualifications or equivalent to enable progression to higher education.
  • Not already hold a Higher Education Qualification.

How it works

There's no need to apply separately.

If you're eligible, you'll be automatically considered for the reduced offer through the information you provide in your UCAS or direct application form.

Just make sure your application is complete and accurate.

Disclaimer - Please note that the MBChB Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery and other allied health courses are not included in the scheme.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The open day attended MUST be within 18 months of the intake you are applying to join
  2. If the intake initially applied to is deferred at the request of the student, an appropriate reason must be given
  3. The 8-point concession is only available for undergraduate courses at the University of Greater Manchester i.e. cannot be used at any other institutions.
  1. You must sign into the open event with the same email you used to apply with
  2. Please note Foundation and EHEAP courses are not included in the scheme and it cannot be used in conjunction with any other pre-University initiative, such as the Golden Ticket scheme.
  3. Can only be used in conjunction with at least one full level 3 qualification or equivalent at a ‘pass’ level.
  4. Points will be automatically added to your application, after the Open Day has been attended.
