Dr Makuta is a lecturer in law at the University of Greater Manchester, where she teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She holds an LLB, an LLM in Petroleum Law and Policy from the University of Dundee, an LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of Southampton, and a PhD in International Investment Law from the University of Dundee.
Dr Makuta’s academic experience includes serving as a teaching assistant at the University of Dundee and as a research associate on the Extractives Hub Project, a British Government initiative funded by the Department for International Development (DFID).
She brings over a decade of legal experience to her teaching.
Before joining academia, Dr Makuta practised law as a Barrister and Solicitor in private practice, and later worked as State Counsel in the international, civil, and commercial division of Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Justice. This professional background informs her teaching approach, enabling her to offer students valuable, practical insights into the legal profession.
