FAQs

This is a great way to get a feel for University life, you’ll be visiting campus on a weekday when real students are attending real lectures and workshops giving you the opportunity to drop in and experience this for yourself.

Yes! While both the Future Focus Day and Open Day are for aspiring students to find out about courses and student life, at a Future Focus Day you will be experiencing an authentic university experience by seeing real live lectures and workshops take place.

  1. Make sure to book your place
  2. Follow our social channels
  3. Make sure to have a good look through the course search, have a read through the entry points and think about what questions you’d like to ask
  4. Plan your day, buying train or coach tickets can be cheaper if you buy in advance (make sure to read through how we can support with the cost of attending too)
  5. Think about everything else but the course you want to study
    - Will you be commuting or living in halls?
    - Do you need advice about funding options? Explore the surrounding area?
These are all really important factors in helping you make your decision, make sure to prioritise these as part of your visit so that when you come to making your decision you have that bit of extra confidence in taking the next step
  1. This drop-in style event allows you to explore as much or as little as you like. If you have more than one subject choice at this stage, have a think about what your first and second choices are and approach planning your visit that way. There will also be lots of informational sessions taking place offering you the opportunity to get clued up on how higher education works.
  2. Include friends, family, tutors and any supporters in this process; there are lots of factors that you may not think of yourself.
  3. Speak to students (not just the ambassadors), there will be students in many areas of the University, happy to speak to you about their experiences; maybe give this advice a miss if you’re in the library or near our private study pods!
  4. Take a breather - the campus may feel busy with lots going on but don’t feel like you have to rush; reflect on what you’re finding out - do you need clarification on anything? Did you want to see something in particular, ask anything specific to your areas of interest? Our staff and students are happy to help you throughout the day.

If you already have qualifications our admissions team will be happy to go over these and let you know your eligibility for courses, we can even take copies to add to any active applications you have

Bring a notepad and a pen or something to make notes on - you will be getting information, links, social media handles and lots of other pieces of information so remember to jot these down for later

Bring a friend or family member along to help ask all the questions, and listen to all the answers, it can feel like a lot to take in so this can help when you reflect on your open events

A bit cliche, but, bring an open mind, you might find out about different courses that spark your interest or another way to study. University isn't a one size fits all so make sure to keep your options open

After the event you'll receive a feedback email, which should only take 2-3 minutes of your time. If you would like to go on to make an application, please visit here.

If you are travelling a distance to visit, please find travel and hotel information.

More specific information, including parking, will be sent to you 2 weeks before the Future Focus Day.
