Burnley College CPD

Burnley College’s Continuing Professional Development offer is designed to support educators, leaders, mentors, and support staff across the sector through high-quality, research-informed and practice-focused training.

We provide a comprehensive annual CPD programme that brings together evidence-based pedagogy, innovation in digital and AI-enhanced learning, inclusive practice, curriculum design, and effective mentoring and coaching. Our approach is grounded in professional dialogue and reflective practice, ensuring that colleagues at all stages of their career receive personalised and impactful development.

Burnley College’s CPD provision includes

  • Bright Spots CPD events, celebrating high-impact practice across curriculum areas
  • Instructional coaching and mentoring development, supporting teacher educators and mentors in FE, HE, and apprenticeship settings
  • Digital pedagogy and AI-enhanced learning workshops, including practical tools for classroom innovation

Centre for Advanced Manufacturing (CfAM)

The Centre for Advanced Manufacturing (CfAM) regularly runs commercial CPD courses with a focus around Additive Manufacturing (AM). The courses include AM technology overviews, design for additive manufacturing, direct implementation of polymer and metal printing, and leveraging AM with traditional manufacturing techniques. We aim to help businesses make informed decisions around additive manufacturing and 3D printing, make the most of the benefits that AM can realise, and increase UK adoption of these technologies.

Equality, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB)

Our Equality, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) CPD programme is delivered by a diverse group of UGM colleagues and visiting speakers who bring specialist knowledge in accessibility and inclusive teaching. These sessions provide academic and professional staff with practical tools, approaches and insights to help them build inclusive learning environments that effectively support students across all protected characteristics.

Jisc CPD

The Jisc Discovery Tool is a free online tool created to support staff in evaluating their digital skills and pinpointing areas for improvement. It offers customised feedback and recommended resources based on how users respond to a set of reflective questions. The tool is based on Jisc’s digital capability framework, which defines the essential skills required to succeed in a digital environment.

Lesson Planning Surgeries

These informal, small-group sessions (up to three people) will provide an opportunity to share ideas and discuss practical teaching and learning strategies for planning lessons in block delivery.

Liaising with the Library

The Academic Liaison Librarian Team are offering a variety of CPD sessions, to ensure you are making the most out of the Library for your own research and to support your students to success. These sessions include;
